The
Gayla Driving Center, a dream of Gail
Austin Ellman, invites you to experience
the joy of carriage driving and Kentucky hospitality
at its best. Nestled in the heart of the bluegrass,
in the middle of horse country, lies a carriage driving
crown jewel. The Gayla Driving Center family would love
to introduce you to the pace of yesterday's world, learning
the art of carriage driving. We pride ourselves in attaining
the highest level of training
and instruction. Safety and confidence are
of the utmost importance. Our daily use of Pacific
Carriages and other equipment are of the
best quality. Whether a beginner, driving exclusively
for pleasure, or an experienced competitor, everyone
is welcome at our facilities.
Our
gently rolling 560 acre farm includes a 100' by 200'
indoor arena with viewing area, perfect for year
round lessons and training. A unique feature of the
farm is the converted tobacco barn which is our main
stable with 12 spacious box stalls, a beautifully
appointed tack room, 4 traditional standing stalls,
and two grooming stations. Our oversized indoor wash
area is heated for those chilly, wintry Kentucky
days. Our main office houses a full kitchen for cold
or hot drinks after a workout, and is a short walk
from the main stable and the indoor arena. On the
560 acre farm home of the Gayla Bluegrass Combined
Driving Event we utilize both lower and upper level
Dressage Rings and a cross country course with obstacles.
For continuing fun and education we keep up an Orbit
Cones course as well as many miles of scenic, mowed
trails. The Gayla Driving Center is also a sponsor
and the National Headquarters for the United
States Driving for the Disabled.
